WHY GOOD PEOPLE SUFFER?
By MRS. AJU THARIAN - NEW JERSEY

God gives problems and suffering only to people who can bear it. Always in the back of our minds we ask - Why this happened to me? Did I sin? Have I done anything wrong that I have to bear all this? It's hard, my friend. But always remember you were a choosen vessel. God choose you because he had a purpose to fulfill in you. The problems you face is not your problem alone. Your family and infact the whole community suffer directly or indirectly.

Our life in this world is full of challenges. We got to face life as it comes. Paths are never straight there are always crooked paths in life’s journey. For some people the hardships are greater. Why I don’t know? Might be they have the power and capacity to face it. There are differences in the kinds of suffering that could happen to mankind – death, depression, loss of jobs, diseases, etc..

Some dreadful diseases are a life long killer. It affects not only the patient but the whole family. We live with all the pomp and show but if we are stuck with a disease our life would change altogether. We should never forget our altar master. Always be thankful for all the things you have. The first amongst them is health. If wealth is lost nothing is lost, but if health is lost everything is lost.

Even if a nursing mother forgets her child, still the Lord will never forget you or leave you alone. We read about it in Isaiah 49:15, were it says “Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee. Our Lord is very compassionate and kind. A person to look for when you are in any sorts of disappointments or discouragements. I was very touched by a news I heard recently. One of my good friend’s her only son of six years was diagnosed with leukemia. It’s hard for me just to learn about it. I always think of my friend. She is a nice and caring mom to her son and her beloved husband. She sacrified her life by working night shift because she can care for her son and family. It’s not easy to work night shifts. How much ever you sleep during the day will never compensate for a good night sleep. Now she stopped working to care for her son. Her son was a real smart kid. Good at all activities, academics, sports and even church activities. He was a really healthy kid still now. But just don’t know why and how this happened?

They were a family of prayer. Always when I think about her I feel sad for my friend. She is a kind and gentle person. Just can’t figure why suffering comes to Good people?

Nothing under the sun happens without the knowledge of God. God gives us suffering to test our faith. Never take it as a curse. Things happen for good. Everyone has some problems or the other in life to face. Problems vary from person to person.

“I cried to the Lord with my voice, and He heard me from this Holy Hill”. Psalms 3:4. Oh! Lord this world is an hard one and it’s difficult for me to understand. Why is there suffering in this world in different forms? Hard for layman like you and me to understand. Dreadful diseases, loss of jobs, sudden mysterious deadths. People you see today, you might not see tomorrow. Last week one of my colleagues was called to the Lord. He looked fine to all. Joked and was so friendly and social to all. But why so soon? The Lord wanted him.

Lord only you have an answer to all. It makes us think we have a creator. We have a supreme power. Without you we are a big empty vessel, a big zero, like a fatherless child. Lord everything is only to understand you more and more. My redemer lives and let us all testify.
