NO FRUITS ON THE MANGO TREE
By REV. DR. M. J. JOSEPH, DEVALOKAM
[Former Director of ECC, Whitefield]

The mango tree in my courtyard is five years old, It refuses to bear fruit.

I asked the Lord:
How long have I to wait for its fruit?
He asked me: Do you water and manure the tree regularly?
Do you take care of it daily in its tender age?
Is it located under a big tree?
Does it receive the Sun-rays daily?
I replied: Yes, Lord.

Wait and learn the art of patience
There is time for everything
It is in waiting that you receive the unexpected.
It is I who give life to the plant kingdom
You may plant the tree
But it is I who give them flowers and buds
You may water the plant
But it is I who give water for all to drink
You may manure the tree
But it is I who make the soil fertile.
The Earth is mine
The tree is mine
The Sun is mine
All that you see around is mine.
Lord,
I have no claim on anything in the universe
I have no right to complain.
Teach me Lord to be humble
And to live with grace
The Lord answered:
You had no part in the creation of the universe
You are created on the last day.
You are only a steward in my garden.
