H. G. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theophilos is consecrated as a Metropolitan of Malankara Orthodox Church on 28th July 2022. Currently H.G is the Diocesan Metropolitan of Ahmedabad and Asst. Metropolitan of Mumbai Diocese. Prior to the consecration he was of title as Rev. Fr. Varghese (Santhosh) K. Joshua. Achen was a member of Njaliamkuzhi Mar Ivanios Dayara. He is awarded with Doctorate in Theology by the Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram Bangalore (DVK) which is a Pontifical Athenaeum for higher learning and formation. The theme of his Doctoral Program was based on the subject "Church, the Bride of Christ" in the writings of Jacob of Serugh, one of the foremost Syriac poet-theologians. Fr. Santhosh had already achieved his M.T.H. from Serampore University based on his study of Early Church Fathers, M.A. in Theology from Baltimore St. Mary's University USA and M.A. in Syriac language from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala. Theophilios Thirumeni is son of Kizhakkemannil P.C. Joshua and Marykutty of Kadeestha Church, Thumpamon North. Young Santhosh was inspired for the priestly vocation seeing the dedicated charity services offered by the celibate priest Fr. T. M. Yohannan, Kuzhiyileth of St. Paul's Ashram Puthupadi, a senior priest of the mother parish. He was recommended for the descipleship of Saintly Metropolitan H.G. Geevarghese Mar Ivanios of Blessed Memory by then vicar Rev. Fr. Thomas Kadamplavil. Santhosh Achen worked as the pioneer coordinator of Sopana under the leadership of our Church Scholar Rev. Fr. Dr. K.M. George. He had done an exemplary contribution to Sopana to reach out the motives and activities of the organization to a large extend of the world. He is the former Vicar of St. Thomas Orthodox Church, Washington DC, USA. Thirumeni strictly follows the footsteps of his Guru in all walks of life. Theophilos Thirumeni is distinguished by his profound humility and piety in his spiritual calling, as well as his deep knowledge of Syriac literature. In spite of the busy schedule of his doctoral program he chose to be with his fatherly Bishop to look after and minister him during his last months of life and turned out fortunate to be present on his bedside during heavenly call of Ivanios Thirumeni. H. G. has authored seven books including Church as the Bride of Christ: Ecclesiastical & Societal Understanding of the Early Syriac Church Based on Select Homilies of Mar Jacob of Serugh, Book of Common Prayer (English translation of Pampakuda Namaskaram), Promion and Sedre of Three Days' and Forty Days' Lent (English Translation), Two Commentaries of Jacobite Liturgy (Re-produced with Syriac text in West Syriac Script), Jeevante Vachanam ( Sermons for the Liturgical Year), Marubhoomiyile Uravakal (Translation of Early Church Fathers), Vishudha Rehasyangal (Malayalam translations for Interpretations of Holy Litury).
