BELIEVER'S BATTLE |
A Christian’s life in the world is a constant and continuous battlefield. Our enemies are distinctly marked and described with or without symbols in the books of the New Testament. Our enemies are grouped as the flesh (human nature), the world in which we live, and the wicked spiritual forces in the heavenly world, the rulers, authorities and cosmic powers of this Dark Age (Ephesians 6:10 – 20). Our Lord Jesus Christ completely conquered our enemies through His incarnation. In John 16:33, it is written that our Savior conquered the world and asked His followers to be of good cheer. Through His suffering, death, and resurrection, He conquered the power of sin, death and Satan. He lived His life without any stain of Sin. His body was sacrificed as the sacrificial lamb of God, sinless but carrying all the sins of every human being born in this world from Adam to the very last person who will be born on earth. As the followers of Christ, the Lord, the Master of heaven and earth, wants us to continue this battle against the flesh, the world and satanic powers everyday of our lives. We the true believers and followers of Jesus Christ must realize, recognize and remember always that He has never promised us an easy, luxurious and comfortable life in this world. As believers the Lord wants us to deny ourselves and take up our own crosses and follow Him in every phase of our personal lives. He taught us that His path is narrow and difficult to follow. But He promised that he would be with us to the end of time. Our Heavenly Father who cares for the sparrows of the air, lilies of the field, who knows the exact number and courses of all stars and planets in the heavens, will be with us every moment of our lives. In addition to this, He has given us His own Holy Spirit to abide within us as our comforter, councilor, and helper in every believer’s life. In the last chapter of Ephesians, Apostle Paul gives us the list of armor for every Christian believer to be worn day and night, because we are always in the battlefield, and our enemies are constantly fighting with us. As Apostle Peter says, the devil is always roaming around us as a roaring hungry lion looking for someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8). Though we are declared as forgiven from our sins, only through His mercy and grace (not by our merits), the ability to commit sins is with every believer, and we are in this world until we shed our own shells of bodies. In addition to the armor given to us, the Lord has given us the true nourishing word of God as our spiritual food that we have to carefully eat and drink. We do not want man-made rules and teachings (Colossians 2: 20 – 23) that may be healthy-looking with an apparent spiritual flavor and taste, contaminate our true heavenly manna. All through the centuries, weeds have mixed with the true wheat! Let us be strongly and deeply founded on the rock of Christ; let us always remain and live as the true branches of the divine vine of Christ; let us always pray in the power and presence of the Spirit of our Lord God. All believers have to be always Christ-centered so that we shall partake the eternal victory given to us over our enemies! Amen. |
