About seven hundred years before our Savior’s birth, ministry, death on Calvary, resurrection and ascension to heaven, prophet Isaiah (Is 49:8) gave us the prophesy about our salvation. It is a call and invitation to every human being born in this world. All the conditions and prophesies about the salvation were completely fulfilled in the life of our Savior who is the Son of God. All the sacrifices among the Jewish people and other tribes among different nations were the shadows of the only true acceptable sacrifice of the Lamb of God who carried all the sins of the world as prophesied in the Old Testament. The people of Israel were selected and prepared by the true and living God for the arrival of the Messiah and His eternal and everlasting sacrifice in order to redeem every human being from sins, power of death and Satan.
On the day of Pentecost, Apostles after being filled with power and wisdom through the gift of Holy Spirit called the people to repent their sins and receive salvation and Holy Spirit by believing in Jesus Christ. About three thousand people immediately repented their sins, were baptized and became followers of Christ Jesus. That was the day of salvation for them. The woman of Samaria and the other villagers received salvation instantly after receiving life-giving words from Jesus. One of the criminals on the cross recognized the Savior crucified next to him, repented and received instant salvation and promise to paradise from the Savior. Philippian jailor asked Paul and Silas “ Sirs, what must I do to be saved? They asked him to believe in Lord Jesus. Of course, the jailor and the family believed and were baptized in the very night (Acts 16:29-34) In the bible there are many other instances to show that people receive salvation readily and instantly after listening and believing the word of God.
Life is very uncertain. Uncertainty is the only certainty we are sure of! Tomorrow is not for us. Today is the day of salvation for everyday. Tomorrow may or may not come for everyday. Salvation is the most important achievement any person can have in this life. We may win everything in this world, but if the soul is lost to eternity, life is empty and worthless. Every Christian must have the deep and sure conviction that he/she has received salvation by simple faith in Jesus Christ as our personal Savior. Salvation is free gift from the Lord by His mercy and grace, not by our merit. Good work is the fruit of salvation. Let us all work together to reach this great good news of salvation for all people. Amen
