CHURCH AGAINST THE SOCIAL EVILS
By H.B. Paulose Mar Milithios Metropolitan
[Catholicose Designate & Diocesan Metropolitan of Kunnamkulam Diocese, Malankara Orthodox Church]
One of the most devastating evil of our society is the problem of drinking liquor. The temperance question is the paramount issue of our state. The blending of evil with good or glorification of evil is the most devastating tendency of the contemporary society. Intoxication by liquor being a moral issue, it is a prime responsibility of the Church to lead temperance/prohibition movements. Christian Churches irrespective of denominations should become the hub of temperance activities.

So the ecumenism was first commenced and pronounced by the Angel Gabriel. Ecumenism is a mission of reality and that leads us for the unity with God.

GREETINGS, FAVORED ONE!
By Rt. Rev. Joseph Mar Barnabas Episcopa
[Diocesan Bishop of Bombay Diocese Marthoma Church]
In the Old Testament Grace is treated as promise and hope. But in the New Testament Grace became a gift through Jesus Christ. It is very significant that Mary become a witness for the dispensation of the Grace of God. The life of St. Mary reveals well to us that worldly prosperity is not a symbol of Grace of God. A true believer consider all his hardships as a fellowship with the passion of Jesus Christ.

HAGAR : THE INVISIBLE WOMAN
By Rt. Rev. Geevarghese Mar Athanasios Episcopa
[Diocesian Bishop of Ranni Diocese, Marthoma Church]
Hagar was a obscure Egyptian slave woman triply oppressed by race, profession and gender. Hagar was an invisible slave in the family of Abraham. This unimportant member of the un-chosen people occupies an important place in the story of God’s relationship with the chosen people. When God sees Hagar He was not only seeing Hagar, but also many who are suppressed, persecuted, tortured and downtrodden. When Hagar sees God, she sees herself. When we open our eyes we see the spring of life, which is reason to live, a goal to live and promises to anticipation.

By Rt. Rev. Thomas Mar Timotheos Episcopa

With the call of God, we should cut down the self made and unholy idols in our life. Honoring the creation than the creator and adorning the given things than the giver are synonymous to idol worshipping. God gives us all a commission to act very unexpectedly and at strange situations. When we return an obedient answer to them the divine calls become effectual and God can make us effectively instrumental for Him. Another important quality we should bear at the call of God is our humility.

Inter-relation between individuals and relation with God is the motivation of Church. By taking the deaf man away from the crowd, Jesus was establishing a small society or church of two people which responded to their needs. It is the responsibility of the church to wake a sleeping man in the congregation. Man should hear the need of world and Church and society should hear the need of man. This is the God's view. SOCIAL EVILS IN VIEW OF SCRIPTURES

In the Old Testament, from time to time, the prophets heralded and confronted the evils in the society by which the nation was pushing headlong to destruction. Prophet Jeremiah warned of the destruction of those who continued to refuse repentance and its initial moderate consequences. In the New Testament time, whatever evils prevailed at the time of Lord is seen vividly in our contemporary era also. The cult of self and conspicuous consumption force us to view the human being as mere a commodity. All Christians are under obligation to seek to make the will of Christ supreme in our own lives and in human society.
